Breaking: The agreement is almost certain to lead to a divided Greens position on the crucial question in a referendum at the end of this year. Read more about the agreement here:

while Greens leader Adam Bandt said he wanted to support the idea as long as he was satisfied with good faith talks with Labor.

A final position by the rest of the party room is not expected until the end of negotiations with the government, with the next stage coming when the Greens meet face to face as federal parliament resumes on February 6.“The Greens want the best possible outcome and we believe we have a responsibility to continue to apply constructive scrutiny to the government’s plan,” said acting leader Mehreen Faruqi.

The division comes after the Resolve Political Monitor this week revealed a fall in support for the Voice over the past four months, with 60 per cent of voters in favour of the proposal when asked about it in a referendum-style question with only “yes” or “no” options. Support was 64 per cent in a similar survey last September.

“The Voice is about two things. It’s about recognition – that is, giving people respect in our nation’s birth certificate. And it’s about consultation – it’s about giving people a right to have a say,” he told Sky News.

‘Greens media’ hates the concept of a modern Australia DaySky News host Paul Murray says the media never mainstreams the Australia Day opinions of people on the right of politics, with people instead swamped by “Greens media”. Mr Murray said the invasion day narrative is constantly repeated and it is “all Greens, all the time”. “Good luck having a national day when you are working in tandem with the very media that hates the concept of a modern national Australia Day,” he said. Happens with most things, the minority flood the social media channels and the politicians panic and then make a rash decision they think is popular when in fact most times it's not. Perhaps you ruined their reputation with all the bullshit the spills out of your host’s mouths.

Support for Voice slips as voters await more detailExclusive: The political row over how the Voice would work has put the proposal in danger of defeat at a referendum later this year. Good. The voice is a divisive policy and should be stopped. The constitution is a rule book for governing. It serves all Australians equally. Singling out any group, no matter how well meaning, is repugnant. We have the same voice to parliament… one vote, one value. With the details hidden until after the vote, you’d be nuts to vote yes.
