Queensland Liberal senator James McGrath says 2021 Australian of the Year Grace Tame is “childish” and should hand back her honour if she doesn’t want it after she was pictured giving a frosty reception to Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
In Canberra on Tuesday for an event with the 2022 nominees for Australian of the year, Ms Tame met Mr Morrison and his wife Jenny outside the lodge. She shook Mr Morrison’s hand without meeting his gaze, and then stood next to him with a stern expression on her face as he smiled for the cameras. She gave a quick smile to Mrs Morrison before walking inside to the morning tea event.photographer Alex Ellinghausen and criticised Ms Tame.
“Grace is the only person in this photo who lives her life with honesty, integrity & empathy Grace’s courage – to speak truth to power & to call out abuse of power has earned her the enduring respect & trust of a nation,” Ms Banks tweeted. Last week, former NSW Liberal MP Pru Goward, who served as minister for prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault, said“There’s the emergence of the angry young woman who has no time for what my generation put up with,” Ms Goward said.

Shame this Senator wasn't as outspoken when the treatment of women in the Parliament was being raised as an issue and several of his Coalition cohorts were facing questions over their behaviour and involvement.
McGrath plays politics with the Australian of the year. Queensland LNP senators spend more time channeling the loonies in the US far right than representing Queenslanders.

Was Grace meant to bow and scrap to our great PM, to make SenatorMcGrath happy that ScottMorrisonMP was shown the respect. Mr Morrison has track record of securing a handshake, if the recipient isn’t forthcoming in offering a hand. Needs a smile now as well apparently.
I regularly met these type of women growing up in 50s, 60s 70s. Convict legacy. Negative, hateful, narcissistic, anarchic. Not all Aussie women are like her but a small significant number are. Trades also on being cute when in a tight spot.

I have asked several of my female friends what they think of Tame, and the majority don’t identify with her. That’s how effective she’s been, right there. They say her message gets lots in her partisan and often childishly petulant behaviour. Women need a better representative.
