Liberal Party looking at replacements for Scott Morrison in state parliament

Senior Liberals are casting their eye on members of the NSW government to take over former prime minister Scott Morrison’s seat while urging him to not resign before next year’s state election.

While Speakman would not entertain a run for Cook before the state poll, members of the moderate faction would urge him to make the switch to federal politics if NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet loses the election. Morrison suffered a 6.6 per cent swing against him in the seat at the election, but it is still considered a safe seat on a 12.4 per cent margin.

A spokesperson for Morrison said the member for Cook “knows the issues are important but at the same time, he was happy to join in on the joke at his own expense”.

The prescient Victorian document that foretold the Liberal Party’s crisisFour years ago, Greg Mirabella – the incoming party president who lost his Senate seat at the May election – started writing a manifesto that spelt out where the Liberals were going wrong. It was lost, until recently, and strangely ominous. This document is also what's wrong with political parties today: thinking about ideology and what will get them relelected instead of making evidence based decisions that are for the good of the people, country and planet. They are about politicking, not governing. LyndaFrench19 It got lost? Where did Sophie hide it? Sophie Mirabella’s husband. A dreadful lot with empathy issues & extreme agendas.
