Regional Australians are more likely to die younger, develop cancer or chronic disease, and have less access to effective treatment, figures suggest. But a federally funded plan to provide access to life-saving clinical trials in the regions is underway.

When many people conjure images of living in the bush, thoughts of fresh air, clean living and good health spring to mind, but the statistics paint a very different picture.
