'Largest growth in a generation': Palaszczuk commits $624m to boost frontline police numbers

Ms Palaszczuk said the promised boost would include 1,450 new positions dedicated to frontline police work, 150 of which would be located in what she called "key regions" across the state.

Commissioner Carroll said she hoped the extra staffing commitment would remain in place even if the LNP was elected to government next month. "This was work that's been going on for a number of months, so this is not just happening today and we're not into, obviously, caretaker yet so we've got to be very careful about that," she said.'This is fully funded'

She knows her electorate, and is busy 'buying' votes! Just hope the State's taxpayers can afford it!

Why do you need to spend millions on police .... shouldn't you be spending that money on hospitals and health especially mental health .... or is it all about the police force controlling the population......

Why isn’t this money going to healthcare? Or education? Or to help people dealing with poverty and unemployment and mental health? We’re in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis. Increased policing will only make things worse :(
