Labor will not use 'scarce taxpayer money' to underwrite coal-fire power plants, according to Labor frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon. TheKennyReport

Labor will not use "scarce taxpayer money" to underwrite coal-fire power plants, according to Labor frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon. Coal has divided the Coalition party room, with a number of Nationals MPs urging the government to underwrite a new coal-fired power station in Queensland, which is the subject of a $4 million feasibility study.

However, moderate Liberals have argued against taking government energy policy in that direction. The comments come after Nationals backbencher Matt Canavan dubbed renewables the “dole bludgers” of the energy system. Speaking with Sky News host Chris Kenny, Mr Fitzgibbon said Labor will not use taxpayer money "to make something commercial when it is not commercial".

It's only scarce cos Gov't always lies about the truth and truth is they are raking in the $$ thru their various revenue scams,er,streams.Scarce taxpayer money? So where did all those hard-working taxpayers go AuspolSoCorrupt ?

No of course not they’re heavily inve$ted in forced unreliable costly energy for the ‘poor’ and no jobs in for children & grandchildren in Australia a consequence... No way are we being forced thanks. You pay for & use it yourself? Someone should ask the question in Parlt.

The Fossil Fuels Rent Seekers are already taking enough of our hard earned money. Money is scarce so let's stop giving Billions to Billionaires like Gina & Clive!? auspol

Wasn't Tony Abbot giving the mines a fat bankroll? This would be an about face.

So whats he going to waste it on then

Nationals should put in a candidate in Hunter who is pro coal. They would win the seat easily

Taxpayers money is only scarce when it’s ideologically convenient. Here’s an idea... how about we put a hold on overseas donations to pay for it... ya know do something for the taxpayers that will deliver a ROI 🤔

‘Greens-Labor Coalition’ would ‘shut down’ mining in Qld ‘tomorrow’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peter Gleeson says the “Greens-Labor Coalition” would “shut down” mining in Queensland “tomorrow” if they had 'their way'. \n\nMr Gleeson said those on the left of politics wouldn’t have any qualms “throwing tens of thousands of people out of a job” in the state's mining industry.\n\n“Closing mining would seriously damage towns like Rocky, Mackay and Gladstone, not to mention places like Collinsville and Clermont and Moranbah, which would die overnight'. \n\nMr Gleeson also said it was a “refreshing change from the doom and gloom” to see new Federal Resources Minister Keith Pitt “hit the ground running” and address coal fired power stations in the state. \n\n“It’s interesting that Keith Pitt is supporting more coal mining, at a time when the Palaszczuk government … have run dead on coal mining under Treasurer Jackie Trad.\n\n“I just find it refreshing that politicians are having real conversations about job creation and prosperity in this country, rather than the rubbish that comes from the 'watermelon Coalition'”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Bullshit! Gas-fired power will ‘save Australia’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says amid the debate surrounding the feasibility of renewables and coal, it will actually be “gas-fired power that saves the day in Australia”. \n\nMr Kenny said Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting saw more of federal politicians “tearing themselves apart” over coal-fired generation. \n\nGovernment MPs continue to trade blows after Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced $4 million funding for a feasibility study into a new coal plant in Collinsville.\n\nMr Kenny said the discussion around a new coal plant is 'is not the be-all and end all when it comes to our energy need”. \n\n“With so much renewable power already in place … and with all the climate activism, it will be gas-fired power that saves the day in Australia.\n\n“More coal-fired baseload power would be a good thing … [but] the sooner we get plenty of fast-start gas generation the better.” \n It's a shame we can't use all the hot air produced by Chris Kenny to generate electricity. Nuclear hear and now.. Saves what day? Why can't the rest of Australia do what SA did with renewables and a battery - and enjoy lower electricity costs as well?

‘Destructive and vindictive’ Joyce undermined by inner circle | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Sharri Markson says “Barnaby Joyce's claim to have a voting block capable of holding the balance of power has been undermined by one of his inner circle”.\n \nMs Markson said Nationals MP George Christensen “rejected Joyce's claim that he is one of at least three National MPs who would cross the floor over leadership tensions”.\n \n“After losing the leadership spill against Michael McCormack on Tuesday, Joyce gave a front-page interview to The Australian where he claimed he would wield the power in the lower house,” she said.\n\nHowever, once the front-page feature ran, “it would seem that Joyce hadn't actually checked with some of his inner circle whether they would, in fact, cross the floor with him”.\n\nMs Markson confirmed Mr Christensen called Prime Minister Scott Morrison to say he was “not part of the renegade group who would cross the floor”.\n\n“Christensen told me if he ever did cross the floor it would be over matters or principles important to him, like religious freedom, not because of internal party infighting,” she said.\n\nMs Markson said Barnaby Joyce’s threats to “cause chaos within the Morrison government” are “pure vandalism” and it was “for the good of the country” that he “was not returned to the leadership role”.\n\n“Destructive and vindictive politicians like this should be nowhere near the steering wheel of this country.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia would think after SharriMarkson destroyed Barnaby and his new wife and made their children's life hell when they grow would grow up. Leave them to get on with life. I will wait for her to be treated the same way one day and see how she and her family take the same hateful crap. Barnaby_Joyce think George is cheating on you with Morrison buddy. Oh well you'd know a little bit about that sort of thing! Barnaby really seems to have the female vote, they find him irresistible, a favourite of the mummy voters.
