An ABC analysis of Australian Electoral Commission data from the seat of Fowler has revealed how independent Dai Le swept to victory.
With more than 75 per cent of the votes counted, roughly 22,000 people gave their first preference to Ms Le, whose family left Vietnam for Australia in the 1970s. Ms Le won the two-candidate preferred vote right across the electorate, including around the fringes such as Chipping Norton, Abbotsbury and Newbridge Heights, where the Coalition was dominant in 2019.
