Labor has blasted the Coalition’s net zero plan as a “scam” straight out of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s playbook.

Mr Albanese said there was “nothing new” in the plan presented by the Coalition, claiming is was based on existing policies and lacked ambition.

“As always with this prime minister, it is all about marketing. All about the spend, never about the substance.” Labor’s Climate Change Spokesman Chris Bowen also doubled down on the Coalition’s 2030 target of a 26-28 per cent reduction in emissions. “The fact is that the only reason why they're not going to make legislation about net zero by 2050, isn't that there's a risk that won't be carried - because Labor would vote for net zero by 2050.

He said if there was genuine unity Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce would have taken his place beside Mr Morrison at Tuesday’s announcement., then Barnaby Joyce would have launched it with the prime minister.”

There wasn’t any doubts! They are all budding actors putting on a show, they just want to be celebrities! Don’t you just love them! NOT! Net zero by 2050 is not acceptable without a serious concrete plan to halve emissions by 2030. Australia has no credible plan to reduce emissions quickly and at COP26 the world will point that out. auspol ClimateEmergency “Agreed to a process” not “agreed to support”. After almost 8 years and 2 Sundays the Nats have agreed to joint the LP and do nothing on climate change. Well done ScottMorrisonMP . Very much looking forward to the election and a change of government. Go AlboMP

Net zero detail thin on the ground among ASX 200More than 60 per cent of ASX businesses have not shared a net-zero emissions plan with their shareholders | MsEmmaK MsEmmaK No government has shared the costings and modelling to get to net zero either. bencubby MsEmmaK Net zero by 2050 is just pious waffle. Greenwashing. A real plan would involve an annual target of cuts to emissions. The minimum acceptable cut is 3% per year, but 5% would be a lot better. It should be part of every company's annual report: last year we cut emissions by X%. MsEmmaK Thank goodness there maybe still 60% of companies doing the right thing
