Labor’s bid to retain the ultra-marginal federal seat of Eden-Manaro has received a significant boost after the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party confirmed they will preference the opposition at the upcoming by-election

. The Shooters have pre-selected former deputy mayor of Harden, Matthew Stadtmiller, as their candidate for the by-election that will take place on July 4th. Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said the minor party will expect to poll strongly in the rural NSW seat.

“The Shooters are hoping to poll 5-10 per cent in the seat with a main aim of defeating the Nationals but their preferences could prove critical in getting Labor’s Kristy McBain over the line,” Mr Clennell said. The seat was declared vacant after the incumbent, Labor’s Mike Kelly, resigned from parliament due to a longstanding chronic illness sustained during his time in the army. Labor holds the seat on a wafer-thin margin of 0.9 per cent.

What the fk is 'ultra marginal'? a seat is either marginal or it isn't.
