Independent Senator Rex Patrick’s attempt to disallow the regulations in the Senate suffered a near fatal blow last week when Senator Hanson said it was“In respect to Senator Patrick’s motion, we only have a small number of sitting days, and we don’t have time for posturing in his efforts to get re-elected,” she said at the time.“There are much more important matters to be considered with the few sitting days left for us.

Queensland MP Bob Katter said he was hearing arguments for and against the changes but questioned why the government did not implement them through legislation.“Changes as significant as this should be debated and voted for on the floor of Parliament rather than simply enacted through regulations,” said Mr Katter.

“I understand the concern that some of these big superannuation funds can exert excess leverage over ASX-listed companies with their voting power, but putting more red tape on advisers seems to be the opposite way we should be proceeding,” he said.Indi MP Helen Haines declined to comment.
