Anthony Albanese has committed a federal Labor government to supporting new coal mines, matching the pro-mining stance of the Coalition, as the opposition targets blue-collar workers in crucial seats for the coming federal election.
The Coalition continues to spruik its plan for a “gas-fired recovery” from the COVID recession. Two days before the election was called, it announced an $872 million funding package to speed up development of the Beetaloo Basin gas field in the Northern Territory. “It’s very unlikely, based on what we are hearing from investors and banks, that new coal mines will secure capital,” Hillis said.“The cost of capital will be increasingly high, and other hurdles to secure finance are significant.”the goal of holding global warming to 1.5 degrees is no longer likely to be achieved
“Coal, oil and gas were behind those massive impacts, so it is strange Albanese would keep going down that path that would feed global warming,” Hare said. The Coalition has promised to reduce emissions by at least 26 per cent by 2030, based on 2005 levels of greenhouse pollution, and to hit net zero by 2050.
So what exactly is the difference between voting ALP vs LNP this election? 🤔
Of course they are. Albo is trying to be 'LNP Lite'.
The “as long as” is the key. Weasel words. Do not fall for this drivel
Don’t forget the carbon tax they’ll have to pay IF Labor wins. eachwayalbo is betting the blue collar workforce are stupid & Labor can continue to take them for granted. Nothing new will ever happen as they will put as many impediments as necessary to make it unviable.
