Some of Labor’s election promises may be facing the chopping block, as an intensive budget waste audit gets underway.

The waste audit will be going through grants and commitments line by line, in order to make space in what Treasurer Jim Chalmers is calling a “bread and butter budget”.

Infrastructure Minister Catherine King has acknowledged some programs will be dumped, telling ABC’s Insiders that “some of the things that the previous government funded we’ll fund, some of them we won’t”.

Ha ha ha, Jane Hume. From the party that is the beacon of political integrity. It wasn’t the Indies election promise. And let’s face it the ALP can reasonably acknowledge the budgetary situation is far worse than at the time they were approved. Isn't the whole point of having a democracy to offer alternatives and facilitate debate of ideas?
