Senior federal Labor MP Tanya Plibersek agrees with billionaire media tycoon Kerry Stokes the prime minister should visit China to reset the relationship with Australia's number one trading partner. 9News

Senior federal Labor MP Tanya Plibersek agrees with billionaire media tycoon Kerry Stokes the prime minister should visit China to reset the relationship with Australia's number one trading partner.

The advice comes as Scott Morrison prepares to jet off to the US next week to attend a state dinner at the White House with US President Donald Trump. Mr Stokes' appeal for the prime minister to meet China President Xi Jinping comes amid tensions between the two countries over foreign interference and a damaging trade war between the US and the Asian giant which is impacting on the global economy.

"I certainly think that this government has had a very mixed message about Australia's relationship with China," Ms Plibersek, the former Labor deputy leader, told reporters in Sydney on Saturday.Mr Stokes told The Australian newspaper that anyone who cares about Australia's future should be worried about its relationship with China.

"Australia's entire future is based on our ability to trade and China is our largest trading partner, Mr Stokes, the executive chairman of the Seven Group, said.

PM plays the race card ... into China's handsAs Scott Morrison heads to Washington, he knows the US relationship matters most. He was wrong to accuse Labor of racism over Chinese-Australian MP Gladys Liu. China believes that their money talks in any language, that they can own and control anything with it. No more evident than the downward spiral of Australian Politicians selling their souls and their country for it. auspol ScottMorrisonMP Geez, and I thought Tony Abbott was our worst PM. Disgusting,Shameful, VERY VERY UN-AUSTRALIAN.This Arrogant DICKHEAD is NOT for Us. He Is ALL For Himself.Morrison Needs to be Removed From our Parliament.

PM avoids saying more in support of Liu - 9NewsPrime Minister Scott Morrison isn't prepared to say anymore on the attacks on embattled Liberal MP Gladys Liu, saying he has already made some 'pretty forceful' remarks supporting her this week. Weak as piss response. We won’t give up asking until she explains in parliament. You mean the ones, in which he lied? He needs to apologise profusely and answer the questions.
