One expert says if the application reaches the courts, it may set an important precedent forcing the consideration of climate change in assessments of fossil fuel projects.

Environment Justice Australia lawyer Hollie Kerwin, who is representing the environment group, said times had changed since earlier decisions were made.

He says climate change is devastating traditional lands and waters around Minjerribah/Stradbroke Island.Quandamooka man Darren Burns says traditional lands and waters have been devastated by climate change. As the climate warms, the atmosphere is able to hold more water, which results in heavier rainfall. Heavy rainfall and flooding can wash sediment into the water, which smothers seagrass, the main food source for dugongs."We see that the mangroves are changing around here.

However, in each of the 19 projects, no assessment of how its activities would contribute to climate change — nor of the flow-on effects of that on thousands of other environmental matters of concern — is currently required under federal environmental law.The letters ask for those decisions to be "reconsidered", under a rarely used mechanism in Australia's federal environment laws.

Close where necessary... provide more EVs and power charging stations..we need a million a year for next 8 years if Australians are serious at all of reducing Co2... Get contracts from SKoreans auto makers ,no point waiting for Tesla only. It's a race ,the demand will escalate

No idea if this is true, but the human species are freezing to death because of no power or power they can't afford. This should be a easy decision to go ahead with these short term projects, obviously because humans are more important. 🤔

Fuck if you greenie grubs.

And you wonder why investment in electricity generating fossil fuel plants are shutting down and we have threats of power blackouts. Keep the uncertainty going but can we target power cuts to specific organisations offices?

'... the oil and gas industry has always been committed to protecting the environment...'

Open up the pipelines! ALL OF THEM.

Ain’t happening. He needs a friend. Define “the world”... G7 don't represent the world last time I checked 'China has raised four lists to the US, which are US wrongdoings to be corrected' recently, now he is asking Beijing to compromise first before we showing any concrete action?
