Labor and the Greens have preferenced Tom Barnett above the Coalition's candidate in an electorate with one of the country's lowest rates of immunisation.

Labor and the Greens are downplaying a decision to preference an anti-vaccination campaigner above the Coalition candidate in an electorate with one of the worst child immunisation rates in Australia.

"What they try to do is they work out who their key preference arrangements are, and then they try to make the how-to-vote card as simple as possible and that's what we've done," he told ABC News Breakfast. The electorate includes Mullumbimby, near Byron Bay, where less than half of two-year-olds were vaccinated, in the latest figures from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

Richard Di Natale says the decision to preference an anti-vax campaigner in Richmond was made by the local branch."Well those preferences won't be distributed, they're way down the bottom of the ticket so those preferences will go to the Labor Party," Senator Di Natale told ABC radio. "It was a decision made by a local group ... no one has been more supportive and has been a stronger advocate of public evidenced-based measures.

Is it not strange that the initial antivax myth was only about the measles vaccine and now all vaccines cause autism, although no proof exists? As usual a waste of space will get elected and waste taxpayer funds as they push their stupidity.

that's irresponsible but just another idiot to them I suppose

Rated above climate change deniers , c'mon SBS LNP give preferences to Palmer and One Nation who are you kidding , be careful .

Yeah it sucks, and so does this

FYI AlboMP - might be silly story to some....

Truth is the West has an undocumented population, it ruins the economy and they don't get proper medical as an attempt to stay off government radar, when an outbreak occurs you blame a fringe political group and call anyone a bigot if they mention the undocumented population...

Truth is the West stopped taking the tired, the poor, the huddled masses, and now they sneak across the border instead, where they become fair game for business to avoid declaring their take, and causing half of the economy to be fronts for washing ill-gotten gains...

All the major parties tend to preference the loonies ahead of each other ...

Truth is citizens have good reason to be suspicious about the state and Big Pharma, government collaborates with private giants to exploit the public at every turn, and you want the public to trust them? No, the failing is with government and business, not the general public...

You will probably struggle to find a doctor who is an anti-vaxxer, me too, I support vaccinations, yet doctors aren't legal experts, and they know well enough not to force procedures unto patients against their will, easier to let the state just order it, but not ethical.

Not exactly a 'green' message.

I also support the right of a patient to refuse medical treatment, it used to be standard to medical ethics, but since the rise of fascism came along all the socialists want state enforcement demanding doctors ignore their oath...

Sad when that what’s left after the greens and labor that’s not hate filled

Racist vandals target Indigenous Greens candidate Major 'Moogy' Sumner’s election posterAn election poster for Indigenous South Australian Greens Senate candidate Major 'Moogy' Sumner has been defaced with a racist slur. To damage any electio posters is vandalism and the perpetrators should rightly be called vandals. However, how do you know that this particular vandals are racists. Or is that just the usual throwaway line? Not condoning vandalism at all, but calling this racism is a stretch unless there is evidence of that. How many political posters vandalised overall? Quite a few I'd wager. I've seen that in almost every country I've visited. This feels like greens playing victim card 4 votes. Yes Racism is Rife since little johnny howard endorsed the rise of the Far right extremists now everyone thinks it’s ok to express their racial views as their opinions & not be called out ..

Why the Greens won't see any of the surge in the minor party voteWhen Richard Di Natale was asked at the National Press Club last week about the party's stalling electoral prospects, he struggled to articulate a reason. Murdoch. Should the Greens ever get control of the Treasury, Defence, Immigration (Border Protection) to name but three, it will only be then that Australians come to realise just how destructive the Greens will be to the established Australian way of life. Seriously, Di Nutter is a con man, he knows his village idiots will never rise above 10%, it's all about keeping that big hooter in the trough. 👨‍🌾

Canavan calls for Greens candidate to stand down | Sky News AustraliaNorthern Australia Minister Matt Canavan has called on the Greens to dis-endorse a candidate over a racist slur posted on social media. \n\nThe comments were directed at CLP candidate Jacinta Price, who is the first Aboriginal woman to stand for the Liberal Party to stand in the NT seat of Lingiari. \n\nGeorge Hanna, who is also standing in Lingiar, posted a photo of Ms Price drinking from a coconut with the caption, ‘it’s not every day you see a coconut drinking from a coconut.’\n\nMr Canavan says this is a ‘disgraceful slur’ and if Richard Di Natale had any standards then he would sack Mr Hanna. \n\n\n\n mattjcan Pot. Kettle. Black. mattjcan Don’t hold your breath waiting for the leader of the Greens/Labor party to apologise. mattjcan This is politically advantageous for my beliefs and yet I find myself having those dang standards thinking this is the most pathetic form of political strategy known to man, now endorsed by near every party in Australia. Pathetic.
