Four American athletes shone at the NRL combine in Las Vegas and won a shot at making the unlikely switch to rugby league. For Kris Leach, there is a sizeable obstacle to overcome.

Kris Leach, the standout male athlete at the NRL combine in Las Vegas, went through his entire college football career without making a single tackle.

Two female athletes who starred at the combine, Megan Pakulis and MarCaya Bailous, will also get the chance to impress NRLW scouts prepared to take a punt on elite American athletic talent. As soon as the next pre-season started, he suffered a serious leg injury that resulted in his knee cap sliding in and out of its socket. And then, after making a successful comeback from surgery, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and forced him to spend even more time on the sidelines.

“I keep her with me all the time, I know she’s here with me through everything. She’s one of my inspirations, that’s why I had her on Twitter as a reminder.”
