Working from home helped kill the tie but its defenders insist it’s not quite dead yet. Here’s why they believe necks still need them.

Reports of the tie’s death have been greatly exaggerated according to men who still experience a quickening of the pulse when tying a half-Windsor, four-in-hand or Eldredge knot.David Pocock and Max Chandler-Mather

Nolen has been selling ties to members of the legal profession and fashion-conscious customers interested in standing out from the smart casual pack. “I suspect we’ll see a lot of people use this debate as an opportunity to push back and start wearing a tie more,” says James Wakefield, managing director and co-founder of“It’s all about choice, which is liberating. No one likes to be told that they have to wear a tie. When it’s a choice, it’s satisfying.”

“I can’t hold on to knitted ties,” Nolen says. “They have become incredibly popular, along with narrower styles in solid colours. Customers seem to reject the wider ties they associate with their daggy dads or uncles and prefer a fresh look.”

Is there anything more useless than a tie?

Ties are ridiculous Lockdown showed us that most of our formalities cost us productivity. If it's not for comfort or safety, it's a waste of time and inefficient. If you think less of people because of how they look rather than what they say, you're the problem.

I agree! Woke Prufrock is very vain. I wish the media wouldn’t give him so much attention. Must be spending a fortune on PR.

A tradition of the Anglo heritage Australians on my land since 1788!

'Use your imagination': Ambassador says China will use any means necessary for Taiwan 'reunification'The Chinese ambassador to Australia uses a National Press Club address to stand firm on Taiwan, saying there's no room for compromise, but was hopeful about mending ties with Canberra. Evil in human form. 🥱 bored of these guys. Stop giving it air time, please. If they want to invade Taiwan let them do it without the US trolling them by popping in for surprise visits or our media building them up into a huge boogey man. Cheers. Family of Afghan interpreters still stuck and at risk, one year after Taliban took controlMore than 200,000 Afghans have sought humanitarian protection in Australia and almost half are still waiting for their applications to be considered. These 'interpreters' (amazing how there are suddenly tens of thousands of them) and their families need to get on with their lives in Afghanistan and comply with their government. The Taliban has already given amnesty to collaborators. Government without a moral compass.
