‘Kids deserve to be able to play safely’: Eddie Betts shares footage of racial abuse hurled at children
Betts posted CCTV video to Instagram late on Thursday of a white car slowly driving along a road outside the home while four children play basketball inside the fence.The AFL legend posted the video on social media on Thursday night, calling for an end to discrimination against Indigenous Australians.
“Aboriginal kids deserve to be able to play safely, free from racism and abuse over the fence,” Betts wrote. “We are not even safe in our own homes. If you know who this is please let them know that I’m open to having a chat about how much this hurts our kids.” AFL personalities sent their support. “Yuck, hope the kids are doing okay. Sending love,” AFLW star Darcy Vescio wrote.And the Western Bulldogs account posted: “Disgraceful. Sending love Eddie.”
