The new name KMD Brands better reflects the group as a multi-brand owner as it eyes growth in the US market.

He said there was room to add more brands to the portfolio given Kathmandu’s strong balance sheet, which has about $37 million cash on hand with a total bank facility of $300 million. The syndicated debt was refinanced last year and included a $100 million sustainability-linked loan.“We want brands that are founder-owned or possibly private equity owned but looking for someone to help them expand overseas and bring knowledge, experience and track record,” Mr Daly said.

“Oboz is a relatively newer brand, mainly in North America, that we want to not only tap out in North America, but then look to take the brand to New Zealand and Europe. “We really want to try and achieve a status of being a true leader in this space, not only in Australia and New Zealand but on the global sphere as well, particularly when it comes to outdoor brands,” he said.
