Katherine’s lockdown has been extended until Wednesday and the Northern Territory has reported three new local cases as Victoria reports 19 COVID-related deaths.

Total active COVID-19 cases nationwide have been brought to 12,294 as the Northern Territory scrambles to stamp out an outbreak in a remote Indigenous community.

There are now 460 close contacts reported in the Northern Territory and the Katherine Centrelink office was named a close contact exposure site on Monday afternoon. Around 350 people live in the Robinson River community which reached a first-dose vaccination rate of 100 per cent on Friday last week.
