‘We’d like to see change’: NSW Police Commissioner calls for stronger bail laws following alleged murder of Forbes woman Mollie Ticehurst
Ms Webb was speaking to Sky News' Sunday Agenda program after the murder of Forbes woman Mollie Ticehurst, allegedly at the hands of her former partner while he was on bail for raping her."We've been part of a bail monitoring group for years and we've been submitting to that group that we'd like to see change so we welcome the change if there are stronger bail laws particularly for domestic violence.
Ms Webb described domestic violence as a"scourge on our community" and said that"at least 60 per cent of general duties time is spent responding to domestic violence". Ms Webb was asked if she supported calls for a royal commission and she said:"I think we can work through some solutions quicker. Let's do that, let's work together.
