The result is being labelled a major victory for abortion-rights advocates in the Republican-controlled state.

Kansas voters have rejected a move to restrict or outright ban abortion access in the conservative state, voting against a change to their constitution this week.Abortion activists predicted anti-abortion groups would push quickly for a Kansas abortion ban if the amendment succeededMichigan, Vermont and Kentucky will hold similar votes in November

Tuesday's result was unexpected in the Republican-controlled state and the first major test of voter sentiment since the US Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v Wade, a 1973 decision which legalised abortion. "Kansans bluntly rejected anti-abortion politicians' attempts at creating a reproductive police state," said Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity's executive director Kimberly Inez McGuire. It also provided a dash of hope for Democrats nationwide grasping for a game changer during an election year otherwise filled with dark omens for their prospects in November.

KS set a president for the rest of the USA thank you KS👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇺🇸💙💙💙💙💙💙

Don't stop now spread the word from sea to shining sea, top to bottom.

Kansas rejects life!

Wow. You all won the right to kill babies. Must be so proud of yourselves.😞

Oh I don't feel like being pregnant today..i think ill just go and get an abortion? Sure. There are some really bizarre women out there amongst us? Legalising abortion opens up a whole can of worms and way open to being seriously exploited. We all know the rules. Adhere to them.

Probably not anything bigger than yesterday’s election was this vote! Thank you Kansas! 🥰

It’s far better that 100,000’s of citizens make this decision than 9 robed lawyers, which is how Roe was decided in the first place.

finally

Wow. Democracy works. Lucky the mad lefties didn't assassinate kavanah.

People from outside the US scared by the SCOTUS ruling and people from outside Kansas happy because of this ruling need a geography course.

the states united 🤣🤣🤣 what about other?

Yawn. How about fighting for basic constitutional equality for ALL Women so we don’t have to fight state by state? Imagine telling slaves they could only be set free in states that vote against slavery. Who would CHEER for such a disgusting approach to basic human rights? ERA

This is proof that non Republicans outnumber Republicans in Kansas. So why is Kansas a red state? There are enough voters to vote these Fools out of office so what's the holdup?

This is exactly what SCOTUS intended. Leave it up to the States to decide. Put it on the ballot in the other 49 so we all get a say.

So now y'all are FOR states rights? Ok

Wow, voters voting on important issues, democracy might work

Good.

Baby killers!

Hope this bodes well for Georgia, Texas, Michigan… in gubernatorial races. Kansas

Tamaradoherty4 Thank you Kansas voters! It’s nice to have some good news for a change.

All the states should let their constituents decide instead of a bunch of control freak men who have no clue about what a woman could go through.

So it looks like the SCOTUS ruling was correct; put the power of the vote to work and let the people have their voices heard.

To Everybody crying about killing babies, do you really want these people raising these children they don't want and turning them loose on society? This is a win for everybody, you're just looking at it wrong.

Welcome to the 2022 election. It may not have been an act of genius to strip half the population of bodily autonomy.

If only other red states had the courage to let the citizens decide, the reprehensible attempt to control women would be itself aborted. Alas, too many GOP officials are cowards, knowing full well they are on the losing side of this issue. Vote them out.

Abortion is on the ballot in every state. That should scare the hell out of the GOP but it won't.

When we roar💪🚺

. Kansas City here I come.

Well done and thank you Kansas! RoeVsWade

Democracy at work

Thank You Kansas for protecting women's rights in your state.

Love this photo!

oh child block

Look at those happy murderers

thank goodness the 14th Amendment protects life. It's never a good sign when people cheer and gloat over killing children.

I don't think we're in America anymore... Well done Kansas 👍

😄🤡😄
