Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is projected to remain in power following a closely fought Federal election. State broadcaster CBC projects Trudeau's Liberal Party will be able to form a minority government.

The Liberals have appeared to have secured 25 of the 32 key electoral districts in eastern Canada. The Conservatives look to have significantly increased their numbers in Canada's Parliament but appear unable to prevent Trudeau securing a second term as prime minister. Image: AP
