Justin Langer is joining the board of billionaire Chris Ellison’s Mineral Resources less than a year after an acrimonious end to his time as Australian cricket coach.

Chris Ellison’s Mineral Resources has added dumped Australian cricket coach turned television commentator Justin Langer to its board.

Mr Ellison, a self-made billionaire who turned MinRes into a $16 billion company with interests in mining service, iron ore and lithium, last monthMinRes chairman James McClements said the company put a premium on diversity of experience within the board, which before this week’s announcements had six members including Mr Ellison as managing director.“As MinRes expands and develops, we believe that bringing in a breadth of expertise and knowledge is key to our success,” Mr McClements said.

Mr Langer described himself as a proud West Australian who understood the vital contribution of the resources industry.
