A Supreme Court jury has retired to consider its verdict in the murder trial of accused killer Gregory Lynn after five weeks of evidence and legal arguments.

On Friday, two of the 14 jurors were excused from the process after the court empanelled more than the necessary 12 to protect the integrity of the trial.Justice Michael Croucher told the jurors that there would be no alternate charge of manslaughter available to them, saying: “If you are not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of murder, you would also not be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of manslaughter.
“It’s natural to feel great sympathy for Hill, Clay and their family and friends. Some might think it morally wrong to conduct an affair. It’s also natural to think it terrible that Lynn hid and burnt the bodies,” Croucher said.“But a criminal trial is not a trial about sympathy or morals, and this is not a trial about the fact Mr Lynn did a terrible thing by destroying the bodies, which you’ve heard he admits.“Whatever verdict you reach, must be a unanimous verdict.
