The jury hearing the case against a Minnesota policeman charged with killing Australian life coach Justine Damond Ruszczyk have a range of verdicts to choose from.

When a Minneapolis police officer shot and killed an unarmed woman who approached his squad car after calling 911, it was catastrophic. But was it murder?Prosecutors have given jurors hearing the case against Mohamed Noor multiple options: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman was under intense community pressure and international scrutiny as he decided whether to charge Noor in Damond Ruszczyk's death, which had led to a police chief's resignation. Neither Mr Halberg nor Mr Gray thinks the jury is likely to convict Noor of third-degree murder, because the state statute requires jurors to find that someone acted with a"depraved mind, without regard for human life", a term so ill-defined and potentially confusing that prosecutors rarely use the charge.

Besides the heartache of seeing her dying on camera, Mr Halberg said he was"touched by the humaneness of the two officers.
