Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong says she is disappointed with Coalition foreign affairs spokesman Simon Birmingham for saying the relationship with the United States. Earlier this morning, Birmingham said there would be a number of US politicians who will think poorly of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for calling WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange when he landed in Canberra last night.

“ disappointing that Simon would go to the alliance, he would know that our relationship with the United States is deep and strong and that is why we were able to advocate in the way we did and ultimately, the pathway to resolving this … to be through the resolution of the legal process,” she said.
