Already a subscriber?A Victorian Supreme Court judge has hauled a commercial lawyer over the coals for “sustained failure” in an insolvency case, and recommended she be referred to the profession’s watchdog.
The judge made the comments as she rejected an application by the owner of J & G Flooring, John Dirito, to stay its liquidation after a judicial registrar ordered the business be wound up on February 28. ZD Legal has offices in Melbourne and Sydney and its website says Ms Davis is “a criminal traffic and commercial litigation lawyer”.Justice Gobbo said there had been “a sustained failure by Ms Davis to conduct the proceeding with the care and skill that is expected”.
“At the hearing before me on 8 March 2024, she arrived approximately 16 minutes late, leaving the court and other practitioners to wait.
