This was originally conceived as an exhibition about colour, but the profound feeling of joy that arose in the planning stages led to a change in direction. Starting in the museum’s foyer, a trail of joyful quotes leads visitors upstairs to the exhibition, where each installation renders the kinaesthetic, spatial, aural, emotive and mnemonic experiences of joy.The artists in the exhibition consider joy in its capacity to move us collectively and in more personal reflective moments.
