John Peros, former boyfriend of Shandee Blackburn, sues over true crime podcast

John Peros will need to prove he suffered serious harm to his reputation before proceeding with his claim against an award-winning journalist, a major media company and Ms Blackburn's sister.

Mr Peros, her former boyfriend, was charged with her murder in 2014 but found not guilty after a 12-day trial in 2017.After an inquest in 2019 a coroner published findings in 2020 that Shandee had died due to injuries sustained in an incident involving violence with Mr Peros, who the coroner found used a bladed instrument.

This week Queensland Supreme Court Justice Peter Applegarth made two rulings relating to the defamation case.
