ANALYSIS: Jobs data shows something we haven't seen before — and it's changed the lines of 100,000 Australians

That this can be happening at a time when interest rates are soaring and households areSo what's driving this new ultra-low unemployment? It's been harder for employers to get workers, because borders were closed, and because of unusually high rates of people off sick.

The low unemployment rate is opening opportunities to jobseekers who have typically found it hard to find a job and it's changing lives.Even now, an awful lot of workers on whom employers normally depend are sick, or on reduced hours, caring for someone who is sick. Borland illustrates what sickness is doing to employment by talking about a café with five staff. He says if one is away one day per week on average, the cafe might have to put on a sixth to cover — if it can. Unfilled vacancies areIt's also true we've been spending big-time, spurred on by pent-up demand from when we were all in lockdown, as well as ultra-low interest rates andHigh levels of illness means some businesses are hiring six people to do the work of five.

When even the Prime Minister has six jobs we need to questions what jobs data is really telling us.

Lines? Lines?

It’s fake. Still a lot of people locked out of jobs due to mandates.

What is the 'true' employment rate? Not the bull💩 statistic we get served up

So all these newly employed people are full time, permanent with sick leave A/L etc. I think not.

It's true people are having to employ workers they wouldn't usually hire. Many of which will be the first ones laid off. Hopefully some of the those 100,000 learn work ethic and appreciate the new income and become long term employed.

Oh FFS. It's entirely fathomable; downward pressure has been applied to wages through supply policy, particularly skilled migration, for literally decades. And maybe we should train some sub-editors; improve their 'lines'...

Well this is very cheery and unlike the ABC? Usually it’s all ‘the devil in the detail’ of jobs numbers. What’s behind this upbeat change? A new government

Spell check and please, ABC, enough with the BuzzFeed clickbait headlines.

Lives. Changed the lives, not lines. Spell check missed that. Fuck, maybe I can actually become a proof reader...
