While the JobKeeper program comes to an end, the Morrison government’s support “does not,” according to Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. During Question Time on Wednesday, Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers hit out at the federal government over the JobKeeper program, accusing it of treating the people “about to lose their jobs” as a “political problem rather than a human one”. The JobKeeper program is set to finish at the end of March.
Responding to the accusation from Mr Chalmers, Josh Frydenberg said “spare me the feigned indignation”. “The JobKeeper payment was always meant to be a temporary one, initially it was planned for six months and we extended it for twelve months,” he said. “At $90 billion, it’s the single largest economic support program any Australian government has ever undertaken.” The treasurer said that while the program ends, the “Morrison governments support does not”.

JoshFrydenberg I am trying to understand WHY all of the fraudulent payments of jobkeeper to big business is not recalled immediately from big businesses who neither needed it nor deserved it? Was it not tax payers money that they are wallowing in? Huge fines should be enforced to recoup money
JoshFrydenberg Like the cheap airfares that support Qantas who sacked workers despite millions of taxpayer $ given to it by the Morrison Govt.
