Here's exactly who is eligible for the $1500 fortnightly payment. 9News

I've been a casual employee over summer and I have lost my job. Am I entitled to the JobKeeper payment? This means you will have to have been employed on a casual basis for more than 12 months as of March 1, 2020.

Good news: if you are eligible, you will get the $1500 a fortnight regardless of how much or how little money you were making. It is not portioned based on your salary.Retail workers have been heavily impacted.No. Each eligible Australian will get only one JobKeeper payment. If you have multiple employers, you must notify your primary employer of your intention to claim the payment.

The criteria is simple: if you have a business with a turnover of less than $1 billion and your turnover has been reduced by more than 30 per cent as a result of COVID-19, you are eligible.

More than 60,000 businesses register in govt's $130bn JobKeeper scheme | Sky News AustraliaTreasurer Josh Frydenberg says more than 60,000 businesses have already registered their interest in the government’s $130 billion JobKeeper scheme and expects thousands more to register yet. \n\nWithin an hour of the announcement, 8000 businesses signed up for the Job Keeper allowance which will see them paid $1500 a fortnight for each worker they keep on the books for the next six months. \n\n“Businesses will need this subsidy to keep their employees and I think it will save thousands of businesses and millions of employees,” Mr Frydenberg said. \n\nSpeaking to Sky News on Tuesday, the Treasurer said Australia was “fighting a war on two fronts, a health crisis and an economic crisis simultaneously”. \n\nWhen asked how long he expected it would take the government to pay off the $130 billion scheme, Mr Frydenberg admitted “it will take years and years” but said “we have to do what is needed at this time and that’s to support the economy”. \n\nThe Treasurer said the government would make further announcements “about various initiatives in due course” but said “they won’t top what was announced yesterday”. \n\n“That was the most significant announcement that you will see from a government for years to come,” he said. \n\n JoshFrydenberg Classic problem, reaction solution. Create total hysteria and fear around an invisible boogeyman. Shut down entire economies as a result of this manufactured crisis. Drive people straight into the arms of gov't, where they will willingly hand over ALL freedom and civil liberty. JoshFrydenberg JoshFrydenberg

Kmart pedophile Sterling Free to serve full sentence after government wins appealA pedophile who sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl after taking her from a Kmart store will no longer be eligible for parole in less than two years. 9News No kidding! Should lock him up without parole forever. Those perverts should have a life long sentence to think about what they have done! What he is eligible for though is a 12-gauge to the head. As far as the public see we are fed up with leniency to these monsters. We take comfort the other part of the sentence will be dealt inside prison.

Follow all of today's developments in the coronavirus pandemic, live and free in our blog. Did they sack any workers All good but I can’t see how a company 30-50% down in turnover, worse in profit margin, can exist even with wage subsidies in a competitive industry. Quite interesting back of the envelope analysis here - I suspect the cumulative outcome of this package will not be as favorable as the govt is hoping for
