The Age and Sydney Morning Herald drop use of honorificsAs part of an update to the guide this masthead uses to help our journalists produce engaging, clear and consistent copy, we have decided to do away with honorifics. Never mind the honorifics, just cut out the partisan propaganda. Lockout not strike! gender sensitivity is going too far. you don’t remove peanuts from stores because some people are anaphylactic. some people actually take pride in and/or enjoy these traditions. you can be inclusive without ruining traditions for those that embrace them. “after initial use of their title in our news stories, their surname alone will follow”. Why can’t you dispense with the formality of surname and use first name or nickname instead? Instead of “Morrison, Albanese and Warne” write “Scotty, Albo and Warnie”.
