Judge Helen Syme on Thursday sentenced Hayne to a maximum of five years and nine months behind bars, with a non-parole period of three years and eight months. One female among his group of supporters cried as he was sentenced and another yelled out: “you’re innocent.”
She said he continued to deny responsibility for his crime and his chances of rehabilitation were only “hopeful”. Hayne had been in Newcastle for a two-day buck’s party for a former teammate and had agreed to come over to the woman’s house. He was drinking on the drive to the woman’s house and left the empty bottle of a pre-mixed alcoholic drink on the letterbox.
Let's hope he's the football in a jail game of rugby league.
So the young lady only knew Hayne online and then met him for the first time in her room?
NRL must have the most toxic and stupid players’ culture in world sport. Not that I’m saying anything we didn’t know already.
Good, should of been longer
