NSW five-eighth Jarome Luai says halfback Mitchell Moses has "been really assertive" since replacing Nicho Hynes in Blues camp for Game II.The second game of the men's State of Origin series will be played at the MCG on Wednesday from 8:05pm AEST.
The 29-year-old, who replaced an injured Nathan Cleary for the last two games in 2023, is among five new faces in the NSW side, with centre Latrell Mitchell another big inclusion by coach Michael Maguire. After the Blues squared off against the Melbourne Storm Jersey Flegg team in an opposed session at AAMI Park on Monday, Luai said Moses was calling the shots.
Moses has only played three Origin matches but would likely have been Maguire's first choice for the opener but for a long-term foot injury. With the entire NRL existing in State of Origin's shadow for the time being, seemingly every game is a proving ground for a single player's representative dreams."He knows we're at the top of our game, he's picked players that are playing their best footy, so he's trusted in that," Luai said.
