Japan-based trio gets green light for Wallabies gold against England | geerob

The Wallabies’ campaign against England has been given a major boost with news that Japan-based trio Quade Cooper, Samu Kerevi and Marika Koroibete will be on deck for the July series.that the Wallabies had secured agreement from the three players and their clubs at the weekend, paving the way for the experienced backs to bolster Dave Rennie’s squad.

Cooper kicked the winning penalty goal to power Australia to victory over the World Cup-winning Springboks last year and, in partnership with old Queensland friend Will Genia, has just steered Kintetsu to promotion into the top division of League One. Second-rower Rory Arnold will also be in Japan by then, his spell over with Toulouse after the French club’s exit in the European Champions Cup semi-finals on the weekend.

Cooper and Kerevi signalled their willingness to pitch up for Test duty earlier this year, subject to the wishes of their Japanese bosses.

geerob So good to have Kiwis and Fijians living in Japan play for Australia. It really makes the national team just that. 😂
