Jack de Belin accused of creating 'false version of events' on night of alleged rape

Jurors in the trial of Jack de Belin have been told the NRL star's account of what occurred the night he is accused of raping a 19-year-old woman is an "implausible" story.The prosecution tells the jury Mr de Belin thought he could do whatever he wanted on the night in question

"You might think that in creating a false version of events about a consensual sexual encounter, they just went too far and what they said, the version of events they gave, sounded inherently implausible."Mr Scully reminded the jury about evidence heard during the trial about a naked Mr de Belin walking in on the complainant while she was using the bathroom of his cousin's unit.

"It may indeed have been a shock and a surprise to [Mr Sinclair] that Mr de Belin was proceeding the way he was proceeding," Mr Scully said. "What more powerful evidence can you get from two persons who are hearing all these rumours going around about some girl alleging that things happened?" he said.
