Of more than 2000 Australians quarantined in Sydney hotels, just 121 symptomatic people have been tested for coronavirus - 30 per cent of whom were positive | jennynoise

Three members of the family were transported from the hotel for testing and treatment on Tuesday night.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said he has signed clearance documents to allow those travelling interstate to skip the second round of quarantine. He said he hoped the documents would be honoured by all states and territories. "It was a very different experience. I have never been detained like this in my life. It was a very joyous occasion to get out."Kate Geraghty

jennynoise Who decided what items were deemed essential enough to provide to detainees, and why did they forget that women exist? It’s egregious that someone should have to bribe a guard $50 just to get tampons.

jennynoise 30% wow, exactly why they were in quarantine.

jennynoise every one of them should be tested

jennynoise So 6%? And out of 121 people, 26 tested positive to the virus. 26 out of over 2000. How many recovered?

jennynoise I'm a simpleton, but wouldn't it be best to just test everyone? Wouldn't that just contain the virus once and for all? (I know, you would have to test everyone coming in, or at least lock them up for 14d as we're doing now - and I know that we probably don't have enough tests)

jennynoise I assumed that all of them would be tested, given we see them as needing to go into quarantine for it. I think these are lost opportunities to gather more information on the true spread of the virus, and asymptomatic carriers vs symptomatic in a reasonably sized study group.

jennynoise Happy for the man who shrieked when he got fresh air. Sometimes I have to remember to step onto my balcony or I can’t breathe properly.

jennynoise

jennynoise Wow, exactly why they are in quarantined.
