“There’s a quality and weight to the way they used to make clothing, and I really wanted to replicate that,” she says., it’s worth noting the garment once chiefly existed to prolong the life of our outermost clothes, says Professor Alice Payne of RMIT University’s School of Fashion and Textiles. Co-founder Deborah Sams says a good T-shirt should last up to a decade. It should be made of strong fabric that drapes well over the body. And, it’s a misconception that making T-shirts is simple or cheap. “It’s quite a complicated process – it’s more simple to make a shirt,” says Sams.
