‘It’s the way the game should be played’: Why Roosters hard man Morley loves JWH | mrchrisnico

It should come as no shock that Adrian Morley’s favourite Roosters player is Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.

The powerhouse Brit, who was suspended for 26 games during a volatile, yet successful, career at the Bondi club, toldWaerea-Hargreaves, who has been charged a stunning 21 times during his NRL career – he was found not guilty on three of those occasions – landed in hot water for a leg pull on Brisbane’s Corey Oates last Friday but avoided any sanction for twisting the leg of Ryan James as he went to play the ball.

“‘Big Villa’ probably did what he did trying to spur his boys on, but it worked the other way and fired us up,” Morley said. “It was a great motivational tool at the time. Freddy wouldn’t have felt that way because he was bleeding and had stitches in his head. Morley spent six years at the Roosters, and one of his many suspensions included a two-match ban for a shot on Ben Walker, the father of current Roosters’ five-eighth Sam Walker.
