The report said Tasmania entered 2020 on a roll, with the state's economy one of the best performing in the country. International tourists will fall from 90,000 in 2019 to 39,000 in 2021, and gross state product will fall from growth of 3.6 per cent in 2019 to a decline of 0.2 per cent in 2021, before rebounding.Opening borders, extending JobKeeper 'key' to state's recovery

He said the state would need to increase the number of Tasmanians choosing to complete higher education courses to support the education sector. Deloitte is predicting Tasmania's economy will achieve a modest recovery once the pandemic is over, but economic activity is unlikely to return to pre-COVID-19 levels for some time."What we know is it will take longer for us to come out of the recession than it will take other parts of Australia to achieve, and that's because the nature of our market is really dependent on tourism and education," he said.

"It seems like many investors are waiting to see what happens with the borders, hoping that the borders will reopen sooner rather than later, so that they can return those properties to the short-term accommodation sector," he said.Deloitte Access Economics partner Chris Richardson said Tasmania's young people had been significantly impacted during the push to beat coronavirus.

They won't have that on their own!!

I lived in Tassie for five years. It's such a pretty place with cheap nice houses with beautiful water views. If I learned anything about Tassie it's that the people are a great community, creative, entrepreneurial, strong and bloody hardworking! Keep going!

It's all self inflicted crisis over a disgraceful plandemic scare scam, come next election vote the useless idiots out or better still ask them to step down soon.

'Labor looks to have won': Eden-Monaro set to elect its first female MP since FederationWhile neither party have claimed victory in Saturday's byelection in key marginal seat Eden-Monaro, ABC election analyst Antony Green says it is likely to go to Labor. All winning is beautiful! Sucked in Costello’s ‘The Age’, I hope you lot choke on this win. How about you do a 60 minutes episode on the latest Liberal Party branch stacking scandal that just dropped! Honestly just sack Costello if you ever want to be treated seriously again! Voters often vote 1 for a candidate who won't get up and then preference the next best candidate, knowing they have a chance of getting up. That isn't ugly that is democratic preferential voting. Only warming the seat for Libs till next fed election. Will be easy for them to win after labor still holding on.
