ANALYSIS: It's not just public servants feeling the ire of the Morrison Government

The board is, after all, supposed to represent the interests of the Australia Post shareholders who in this case just happen to include us, Mr and Mrs Taxpayer.

Technically, the Auditor-General is an officer of the Parliament, not the executive government. But that does not seem to have protected the office from a trend to cut the funding of any organisation that either meets with the Government's displeasure, or may have the capacity to scrutinise it, including of course the ABC.Things aren't going all that well over at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, either.

The Australian Information Commissioner Angelene Falk confirmed to a Senate Estimates hearing last week that the office is yet to get a funding guarantee going forward, pending a review of the Privacy Act. It's not just about funding, though. This Government has continued the longer term trend to laws being made by ministers outside the formalities of federal parliament, it has extended the definition of cabinet in confidence to cover both national cabinet and the COVID Commission, and it has extended what is covered by the legal term "cabinet in confidence" to cover commercial contracts.

How about independent 'analysis' of the entire landscape. Andrews oversees the most secretive Govn't in living memory. Contracts without tender you say?.. only 800 dead now. An attempt to introduce laws to form a private militia..? nah... no coverage needed there hey ABC!

latingle landing punches.

Where are your proclaimed Christian values Mr Morrison? One would think you would adhere to fairness, honesty and social justice for all.

People with disabilities have been under Morrison’s jackboot heel for quite some time now; someone needs to end his dictatorship as grand poo bar of the lodge before he exterminates us all.

Juanita_Phillip Lots here, including ScottyFromMarketing objecting to banks following international best practice '...international banking regulators have been both warning banks to consider these issues and to be transparent about their exposures to possible stranded assets for some time'

My thoughts on Morrison and liberals . They are out the bring labour down along with some media bodies since the pandemic

Littleproud was blackmailing the banks to keep lending to coal miners In the boardrooms the banks decided to cut exposure to coal investment as coal would be stranded assets LNP is a blind pig defending 30k in coal mining From Abbott to Scott no climate policy

Uh oh latingle you might be out of a job after this incredibly accurate piece of reporting. Our incredible leader does like criticism.

Not *analysis* this is opinion When will standards & bias at the ABC be addressed ItaButtrose ScottMorrisonMP ?

Aussie politics is simple if you keep this in mind. The mining industry tells the Morrison government what to do and Morrison only cares about his mates. Marinate in Murdoch and you Have our government

Why is a liberal government intervening in a free market system?

Well summed up at the end

'The arrogant approach of our Prime Minister and his Government to feeling so little accountability, or respect for transparency, should be of equal concern here.' 🙌

This’ll wipe that smugness from his face

Great insight !

Salesman Scotty at work.

Great article.

'feeling the ire'? Looks like the pimply weekend work experience kids are on the loose again😂👍

defundabc

Morrison what a good person of double standards

Nah, latingle can't be trusted to write a balanced story anymore.

Only Smoko can be trusted to bring down the entire Australian banking system.

Anticipating reactions to political attacks can be a tricky businessAnticipating reactions to political attacks can be a tricky business as Australia Post's Christine Holgate, Scott Morrison and Daniel Andrews discovered this week, writes Michelle Grattan. I don't agree the PM trashed Ms Holgate. These incentives are not acceptable for a service that is getting worse. It is now takes over 10 days to deliver letters compared to 3 to 5 days. The PM is questioning these gifts as are most Australians. 👍 I do think the attack on Holgate was disgraceful. Time scottyfromarketing concentrated on putting his own house in order & begin to put an end to the rorting we have witnessed in the last few years!
