While waiting in limbo for news of their homes, the common theme among bushfire victims is a resounding sense of appreciation for firefighters and emergency personnel.

For many people across the growing fire zone in Perth's north-east — not knowing if their house, their belongings, and often their horses, chickens or other animals have survived the blaze is incredibly hard to bear.But all praise the work of firefighters and emergency personnelThey are full of praise for the firefighters doing everything they can and putting their own lives in danger for their properties.

People have also gone to stay with friends and family across Perth. That is not always easy, though, given the entire metropolitan area and South West is in the middle of a five-day lockdown after a security guard tested positive to COVID-19. "We can see the fire crews going up Bells Rapids. They're putting out spot fires and they've got a really good handle on it."Ms Molloy said the evacuation centre was very useful because there were maps and people to update her on the weather conditions and where the wind was going."It must be worse twiddling your thumbs and not being able to do anything," Ms Molloy said.

Ms Bracegirdle said she understood fire authorities wanted to keep everyone safe but it was frustrating."This morning it was Bedlam, there was about 20 odd cars here, some very angry.'There's people that are coming out literally just to get diesel for their generators to keep the tanks going for their stock, and they are not allowed back in.

"The horses don't stop eating and drinking, so need to keep checking the water troughs, making sure the tanks are still working, keep the power up."Allan Jenner and his daughter Paige Jenner and their families live just streets apart in the suburb of Aveley, towards the western edge of the fire.Paige and Allan Jenner from Aveley had to evacuate their home on Tuesday due to the Wooroloo bushfire.
