‘It’s gut-wrenching’: Woman charged with murder over death of toddler in Melbourne’s west

A 31-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the death of a three-year-old boy in Melbourne’s north-western suburbs.

The area was cordoned off, and a woman was handcuffed at the scene and later charged by homicide squad detectives.A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said the woman and boy would normally come to the front of the house to say hi, but she hadn’t seen them in two weeks. Neighbours have left teddy bears and toys at the Albanvale property where a three-year-old boy died on Monday.In December, the woman asked her how to apply for Centrelink payments, she said.
