The former tennis world number one says he is ready to move on after returning to Australia for the first time since being deported after failing to meet the country's COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

, which he said had a "super strong" list of players.

"People in Adelaide and generally in Australia love tennis, love sports — it's a sporting nation — so hopefully I'm going to have a lot of people watching and we can have some good time." He said he has felt welcomed in the city so far and hopes to receive a positive reaction from Australian crowds. "But I have to move on, as I said, and coming back to Australia speaks about how I feel about this country, how I feel about playing here."

I thought he was BANNED

I trust his team have told Novax that booing is a term of endearment

U mean not let in to the country unless he took a drug that not even wada knows the effect off & wada’s policy is that all sportspeople r responsible for what is put into their bodies abcnews following the propaganda line from bigpharma still to keep the mass formation in line

a very polarizing figure in sports

Difficult to know what was worse: How the federal government treated Novak, or the fact most Australians supported him being deported.

It was his choice to be deported.

“Novax” Djokovic 🤦‍♀️🤬

The deportation seriously damaged Australia's image overseas. Whining about superstars not getting the same treatment as everyone else is definitely not a good look. Good to see our reputation restored.

Funny how not that long ago, millions of Aussies were being 'encouraged' to get vaxxed to retain their jobs & travel & now it seems like everything's OK & it was only a temporary measure! 🤔

He made the right choice. He is still fighting fit and up for anything. Meanwhile, Raffa is struggling and Federer has retired.

Oh good ... the clowns who run Tennis Australia subjecting us to another circus with Novax the fraud 🤮

Yawn

A disgusting display of 'double standards' by the Australian Government - take the jab or lose your job for many Australian Citizens but it's OK if you're from overseas, rich & famous to come here and earn your living ! 🤔

Glad that Novak & others who were previously discriminated against can now enter our country freely! It was never about public safety, the vaccines don’t prevent infection or transmission, so making vaccination a requirement for entry was unscientific & unjustifiable.

Makes a complete mockery of the country’s immigration rules

Piss off ,liars not welcome.

Go Novak!!!! Best tennis player, glad to have you back!!!

Not interested. The guy was thrown out of Australia previously for a damn good reason.

Now let's deport him again and say 'PSYCHE!' as he's bundled onto the plane.

Hey Dictator DanielAndrewsMP ,he's not jabbed, W T F?! I was sacked coz i refused your illegal amoral mandated untested unproven experimental NO JAB NO JOB CLOT SHOT. I want my job back now Motherfv(€r!!!!!!!

Why is there no inquiry as to why Border Force tried to turn Djokovic around at the border given that the Commonwealth finally admitted he had a perfect right to enter the country?

Why are ABC all but ignoring this ?

Novak Djokovic makes low-key return to Australia but fan reaction will be divided | Courtney WalshThe nine-time Australian Open winner is keen to put debacle of deportation behind him but his public reputation is tarnished The better approach might be to write an article on how 70% of the Australian public were such complete and utter fearful arses at this time last year. Where basic decency was abandoned to the whims of a few politicians based on irrationality and fear. It highlights our culturally sick our country has become Divided? People’s anger towards Novak Djokovic was ‘misdirected’: Rita PanahiSky News host Rita Panahi says the anger over the COVID restrictions earlier this year was “misdirected” towards tennis star Novak Djokovic. Djokovic’s visa was cancelled 12 months ago following a legal battle over his vaccination status when he arrived in the country for the Australian Open. The former world number one has since touched down in Australia after being granted entry into the country for the 2023 tournament. Ms Panahi said she found the whole controversy “quite disturbing”. “It was so bizarre because instead of being mad at the government and the overreach for the restrictions that were being imposed, the anger was all misdirected at Novak,” she said. 100%. Instead of standing up and fighting against tyranny, the soft underbelly of Australia instead took it lying down, then cried foul at anyone not suffering the same tyranny. Djokovic has made Australia look fools to the whole world. The lunacy that has taken place in our country over the last three years. Thanks to the media propaganda.
