Foreign Minister Penny Wong says the government will continue to advocate for Ms Cheng's interests and wellbeing."Our thoughts today are with Ms Cheng's family, including her two young children, with whom she has had no contact since she was detained," she said in a statement. “The Albanese government should make it clear that releasing these arbitrarily detained Australians is critical to re-setting the relationship with Beijing,” Ms Yaqiu said.

The mother of two was critical of the Chinese government on her social media platforms prior to her being detained.

Better than Assange who is going to the third world country

Like Julian Assange.

We and USA jail and silence whistleblowers. Assange is in solitary hell. I don't know this ladies activities but it is nothing different to what we do.

With Assange being detained far longer, we have no moral authority to object.

The Aus govt, regardless of party, really does not instil confidence in the public that they will make much of an effort to help should citizens get into difficulty overseas . . It is important the Federal government is seen to be activity working on behalf of Aussies in trouble

Why should we have anything to do with this situation. It was her choice to stay in China 🇨🇳 Not our business,at ALL ,

Either charge her or release her. is this how CCP wants to control Hongkong and Taiwan ? World is watching.

She should contact the President of Mexico, he will be more help than anyone in Australia 😡

Those poor Chinese citizens, what a bloody cesspit they live in.

Julian Assange.

China ‘not’ a partner ‘whose word you can take’Former Labor Senator Stephen Conroy says China has spent years 'trying to pretend' it could peacefully convince Taiwan to rejoin the People's Republic, but the Taiwanese have watched what China does to its 'own citizens' . 'China are proving to be not a partner whose word you can take,' Mr Conroy told Sky News Australia. 'So if you’re sitting in Taiwan going, ‘look, we could do this, we could consider reintegrating into China’, you go, ‘but we know what they’re going to do'. 'The Ambassador yesterday said there’ll be re-education for the Taiwanese people, I mean, that would fill you with horror.' What the fuck did he do when I office. 🤦‍♀️ China will have to use force to place Taiwan under CCP rule. The surveys show Taiwanese want to be independent, a point CCP lies about. Taiwan is a vibrant democracy. PRC is a one party state with an authoritarian leader and government institutions controlled by the state. I’ve never met a Chinese person that felt trustworthy, and I’ve met quite a few!

I'm sure she is detailed. But she's detained too. *detained? “Exclusively”. I don’t think so. I saw him as a guest on SBS Insight program talking about this. You can’t even be honest about that
