South Sydney forward Jed Cartwright says he has no issue with on-field comments made by Pete Green last week, and is adamant the Penrith trainer didn’t sledge him about his previously broken back.
Souths officials privately claimed Green taunted Cartwright about a previous injury suffered during his time at the Panthers. Cartwright claims that was never the case.. “I am good mates with Pete. We got along real well when I was at Penrith. He never said anything about my back. He just said something about the tackle that I made.
“He said nothing about my back. I have all the respect in the world for Pete. It’s hard when you lose a preliminary final. I just went up to him and spoke about what I heard and what he told me and then we put it to bed then and there. It’s been blown up from that.”Christian Nicolussi However, things escalated when Jed’s father John, a premiership-winner at the Panthers during his 12-year career at the club, told a News Corp publication that Green should receive a life ban.Jed told the Herald he had not spoken to his father about the incident before the story was published by“We were out having a drink celebrating the end of the season and he [John] must have seen the original article or video. He got pretty fired up not knowing the story,” Jed said. “He knows the story now.
