A week of rain in drought-affected Queensland transforms the landscape from a dust bowl to overflowing dams.

"This hasn't solved all our problems, but it's a start, and it has laid the dust and that is awesome," Ms Stewart said.On Lynelle Urquhart's property near Moonie, puddles of water have made for picturesque sunset photos.

"But there's something deeply sad in those photos — where there should be leaves, there is sky," she said. "With little soaking rain to replace the groundwater over the past few years, the old ironbark trees look to be dead or dying.""If those trees die it would impact the whole shade lines and ridge timber lines here for many decades," she said. The Urquharts destocked their property during the height of the drought and have a total of two cows and their calves left.

In the meantime, they are still counting their blessings and are thankful for the extra rainwater in their tanks.

History repeating itself........

be all gone come winter

Love the ise of overlap photos in this article. Very powerful.

So climate change is good when it's good weather and bad when it's bad weather? Got it.

Great that nature can regenerate but sad for the 1 billion dead animals who won’t come back 😭

What happened to the climate-socialism propaganda? Rain rain go away?

Qld govt 'dam plans' demonstrates 'sheer arrogance' | Sky News AustraliaQueensland minister and Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett says any plans by the Palaszczuk government of “decommissioning” the state’s Paradise dam is just “beyond belief”. \n\nQueensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk had defended plans to rush through regulations in relation to the dam, saying the move was being considered as a matter of “public safety”. \n\nQueensland’s Paradise dam needs significant repairs due to damage sustained in devastating 2013 flooding, however the premier is considering alternate options to rush plans to address the issue.\n\nWhile Ms Credlin had said locals are “fearing” the Labor government will use this opportunity to take a “preemptive strike to permanently cut the dam's capacity by as much as 40 per cent”.\n\n“The line that they’re giving us is about a safety concern but quite frankly that still hasn’t been proven,” Mr Burnett told Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\n“I can only guess that it’s about an ideologically driven Greens preference deal,” he said. \n\n“And I would hate to think that was a reality”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia
