After dramatic scenes across New South Wales on Tuesday, a bushfire expert says the state is locked in a weather pattern that feeds bushfires, and a few more really bad days are ahead.

NSW residents should brace for more days of potentially catastrophic bushfire risks in the weeks to come, a prominent bushfire expert has warned.Fire danger ratings on Wednesday are ranked at"very high""It ain't over, it's as simple as that," Ross Bradstock, the director of the Centre for Environmental Risk Management of Bushfires at the University of Wollongong, said.

"It looks like we're locked in this pattern at the moment of no rain and one or two major cold fronts a week." The fronts bring hot, gusty conditions in front of them, elevating the risk of fires breaking out or spreading.The fire danger ratings for Sydney, the Illawarra and Hunter regions will drop three ranks on Wednesday to"very high".A southerly change is set to offer a brief drop in temperatures, but also make fire risks more unpredictable as it moves through.

But the mercury on Friday is forecast to climb back to 30 degrees Celsius, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.Authorities fear a repeat of multiple emergency-level fires, the kind that continue to burn throughout the state's north and
